These print, video, online and electronic resources are to support Literature.

Note: all resources for this WACE Course are recommendations only. Each school should decide on specific titles for their students in consultation with their school community and sector guidelines.

Texts
The texts that form the vehicles for the content of the English learning area include:
  • everyday texts
  • informational texts
  • mass media texts
  • literature
Literature includes a wide variety of creative and imaginative writing, oral performance and texts that contribute to an appreciation of students' own cultural heritages and the heritages of other cultures.

To locate suitable novels, short stories, nonfiction narratives and other resources in the Resource Bank there are a number of searches you may use:
  • Which Book?
    This page on the CMIS website links to reviews and bibliographic details of books taken from the CMIS publication Fiction Focus: New Titles For Teenagers.

    These reviews are written by English teachers, teacher librarians or other professionals in the field of children's literature.

  • For an more extensive search:
    • Fiction [Choose Late Adolescence and/or Early Adolescence]
      These searches will find an extensive collection of novels, picture books, audio books, videos and supporting websites.
