site provides information about how to start
and run a book group and includes discussion
guides to use with specific books. Teachers
will find guides for many titles found in Australian
school libraries.
- Book Clubs & Reading Guides
The
teenreads.com website
has information directed at young people on how
to start and run a book club. The extensive list
of reading guides includes many titles familiar
to Australian readers.
- The Teachit Book Group
This online book discussion
group for teachers is part of English Teaching
Online UK, teachit.co.uk,
established to help teachers of English,
Drama and Media Studies to share ideas. It
contains classroom materials, lesson plans
and teaching tools created by teachers, as
well as discussion forums, competitions and
news about English teaching. Participation
in the book discussion is easy. Simply read
one of the 10 listed books and then join
the discussion. A recent booklist contained
a mix of contemporary novels and classics,
familiar to Australian teachers and students,
including The Curious Incident of
the Dog in the Night Time, Memoirs
of a Geisha, Harry
Potter series, His Dark Materials trilogy,
Pride and Prejudice and 1984.
